Re: Icons and Ikons
05.23.04 (11:12 am)   [edit]
Today I painted my first Icon. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I think God would be pleased with it although not a great likeness!! [image]Cadmon_426200765.jpg[/image]

Is it me or does the blame for violence constatnly lay at the foot of the cross?

Lets see, WW1 - that was about power, WW2 that was about power as well...the terrorism that is now an intenational fact...is that about faith or power?

Re: Iraq

How sad it is that the middle east is so full of hatred. On all sides. Men killing in the name of God who would not wish any harm a hair on there heads. It appears to be descending into barbarity with the abuse of prisoners and the beheading of an american civilian - where will it end? [image]Cadmon_12988177.jpg[/image]

It appeared to me the US was starting to feel ashamed of the way they had treated the Iraqi prisoners and the beheading of Mr Berg has just made them all the more angry.......

On the subject of Prayer...........
03.04.04 (12:37 pm)   [edit]
[image]Cadmon_1355146364.jpg[/image]

I've just started reading 'The way of the Pilgrim' a classic from Orthodox spirituality. It's really rather good.

It starts with the Pilgrims look for the answer to his question:

What is unceasing prayer?

'The continueous interior Prayer of Jesus is a constant interrupted calling upon the divine name of Jesus with the lips, in the spirit and in the heart, while forming a mental picture of His presence, and imploring His grace, during every occupation, at all times, in all places, even in our sleep. The appeal is couched in these terms 'Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me'
